Wine and Art Auction
Rain's annual 'Wine and Art Auction' is the social event of the year for art and wine collectors in the Mid-Missouri area. This annual event features two auctions, one silent and one live, featuring some of the most sought after artwork, wines and services that the area has to offer.
Each year the Auction, a formal event, is extravagantly themed and includes gourmet meal. Before dinner you'll enjoy a socializing and perusing the silent auction during the cocktail hour. Each year local distributors and wineries will present their finest wines for tasting and you are free to order or purchase your favorites. The wine toss will be open as well, and for ten dollars you can win up to three bottles of wine. This is always a favorite! You can also play our theme game to win a fabulous item donated by a locally owned business.
The Wine and Art Auction is the cornerstone of Rain's fundraising efforts each year, raising almost $50,000, and makes it possible for Rain to carry out its mission to provide STD, HIV, and Hepatitis education, early detection, and care coordination, for at-risk individuals, families, and communities.
Salute to Life Walk
The Salute to Life Walk is a traditional event honoring the memory of those who have lost the battle against AIDS. As one of the only 'AIDS Walk in central Missouri, it serves to remind the community that after 26 years of HIV, we still have work to do to stop the spread of this disease.
The event includes games and activities, opening remarks from a local celebrity, a one mile walk through Stephens Lake Park, and raffles. Schedule to begin mid-afternoon, the Walk is conveniently concluded to allow for other activites. Walkers carry flags representing some one living with HIV/AIDS in the Central Missouri area. Each flag is the size of an AIDS quilt panel and when someone dies of AIDS their loved ones may use a flag to make a quilt panel. These panels are then submitted to the Names Project AIDS Quilt.
