In 2004 Rain received funding from the City of Columbia Community Development Block Grant to purchase and begin renovation of a four-plex in central Columbia. Funds granted to Rain from Doorways of St Louis' HUD grant 'Outstate Missouri Housing Project' provided money for completing renovation and seed funds for constructing a new facility. The facility was opened in February of 2006 with a ribbon cutting (link to flyer). Rain board and staff were present as well as representatives of Doorways, Inc. and the City of Columbia Office of Development.
